The Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e Geofisica Sperimentale (National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics - OGS) is an internationally-oriented public research institution based in Trieste. OGS operates and develops its own mission in the European Research Area and internationally, prioritizing the basic and applied research fields of: Oceanography, Geophysics and Marine Geology, Experimental and Explorative Geophysics. OGS applies its expertise to contribute to the increase of knowledge and to the solution of environmental, economic and social issues in line with the National Program of Research and strategic European objectives. These efforts are made in collaboration with European and international institutions, private industries and qualified enterprises. The Institute aims to play an important role in the Italian and international research fields by favouring synergies with other institutions, assuring the exchange of knowledge and advance of technologies across all levels.
