The objective of the Plymouth Marine Laboratory is to develop and apply world-leading, integrated marine science towards the sustainable future of the ocean. This is delivered through excellent research, people, with international and national partners, sharing our knowledge and engaging with our stakeholders. The interdisciplinary and pioneering research focuses on the dynamic and complex marine environment, the invaluable goods and services provided by the ocean to support life, and the processes and interactions involved. This knowledge helps governments, policymakers and environmental managers monitor and control society's impact upon this important ecosystem, to maintain a healthy and productive ocean for continued benefit to humankind into the future. PML also has a commercial trading subsidiary which delivers services, products and solutions related to the marine environment in key sectors.
