The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) is Scotland's largest and oldest independent marine science organisation, dedicated to delivering marine science for a healthy and sustainable marine environment through research, education and engagement with society. SAMS research strengths include marine renewables, aquaculture, marine biotechnology, marine policy, deep-sea systems, climate change and polar science. SAMS mission is to deliver world-class marine science that supports society with innovative solutions to developing a sustainable relationship with the marine environment. This mission is delivered through research, education, services to business, learned society activities and public engagement initiatives. SAMS is a founding partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, an Associated Institution of the United Nations University, a NOC Delivery Partner, and a partner in the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland.
