The University of Turku, Finland, is an active academic community of 25,000 students and staff members. The Archipelago Research Institute is a special unit under the Centre of Environmental Research of the University. The institute participates in multidisciplinary research of the Baltic sea with a special focus on the Archipelago Sea. The institute offers research services and facilities for courses and seminars, mainly for universities. Its own research chiefly comprises projects studying the biological and geological condition of the Archipelago Sea. Research results and reports are published in the SEILI Archipelago Research Institute Publications series as well as in scientific journals. The Archipelago Research Institute belongs to the Finnish Marine Research Infrastructure and is a partner of the university research stations in Finland united for research, teaching and societal interaction.
