The doctoral positions are funded by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies and are located within the CLIM-SCAPE project: “Climate change mitigation capacity of the Baltic coastal seascape: identification of hotspot environments for coastal blue carbon sequestration and guidance for sustainable management of the Baltic coastal landscapes under global change (CLIM-SCAPE)”.
One doctoral student will focus on understanding multiple coastal habitats’ carbon sink functions (i.e. carbon stock levels, carbon accumulation rates and greenhouse gas exchange) across the land-sea continuum, while the other doctoral student will focus on the influence of seascape configuration and connectivity (export and fate carbon) on blue carbon sequestration capacity, coupled to the distribution of blue forest habitats and contemporary land use.
